This recent build was another all new engine, and I mean every part brand new. Again we started off with a engine That Came in for a small problem in the valve-train, but once everything was torn apart the engine had much more damage than that. The main bearing were so worn they had wear holes in them! The crank was heat cracked, as was the main bearing caps in the block…both were trashed. The heads had severe oil starvation damage to the bearing saddles, and they too were garbage. When all the final inspections and measurements were in, the engine was discarded and a new one ordered up.

We started with a new cast iron Ford 5.4L block. To that we added Diamond Pistons with a ceramic top coat, molly side coating and tool steel pins. This engine was going in a light AC Cobra replica, and while it was not presently super-charged, that might happen down the road, so we used good forged Diamond Pistons with thick crowns and ceramic coating for extra assurance. The rings are Total Seal, with a Gapless top ring. For Rods we again went to Oliver for their Pro lite I-Beam Rods and ARP 2000 bolts. The crankshaft is Ford 5.4L, the new version for the 2007 and up GT 500 engine. The Head are the same, the newest best flowing 07 and up GT 500 with the port roof raised for use with the small lash adjusters. Ford also supplied the Valves, Springs, Lifters, Rollers, Keepers and Retainers. We used a Comp Cams big cam, with ARP cam bolts and light weight spacers. All Bolts are ARP or ProWeld Socket Head Bolts, and on this engine we used the better 256 series stuff. Balancer is Innovators West, with Steel Flywheel and a Stage 8 Bellhousing.

The AC Cobra this sets in is mainly a show car, so many items are polished. You can see the Front Cover, and Intake Manifold along with a Enderle Fuel Injection System, is also polished out. Speaking of which, this is a mechanical system that has been converted to EFI and uses a FAST EFI system to run the show. This engine makes about 600HP set-up like this, more than enough for a 1800LB car!
