Doesn't
it always seem to come down to what's under the hood ? Well for most performance car, race cars and
custom cars that is the number one area to exploit…so I suppose it's no surprise that Project Boss 302 is the same. We have spent a lot of time under our
hood …adding power, features and now appearance items. The list above, shows all the Ford parts
purchased for this area, again we included the complete list so you have the information to duplicate or add any part of this
up-grade to your vehicle. Prices are prices we paid, you may or may not find the deals we did, as these
parts can vary in price by as much as 35%. Figure our price to be the lower part of that swing, as I'm
certain we did not get the cheapest prices, but did do a good job of saving over list cost. Same goes for
the cost to have the parts painted and graphics applied. Your price may be more or less than ours, depending
on the amount of parts to be processed in your group and the time of the job, as materials and labor cost continue to rise.
I'm very happy with our shopping efforts, I looked for a very long time, comparing prices and not just one, but
the overall cost of the complete order, as some may be lower on one or two items, but much higher on others. So
it's the combined price, or total cost that you have to consider. Shipping is also a huge expense with
these parts, as many including the front splitter and upper radiator cover (which are very long packages) have very expensive
shipping bills. This made the total order even more important to consider, and to keep expenses to a minimum,
we had all the painted parts shipped to Southwest Carbon Works directly. This allowed us to save even more,
as it was not necessary to send the parts to our home base, when have them shipped down to Florida by ourselves.
Only those parts that would not be involved in the painting process were shipped directly to us. What did we change? The most noticeable part
may in fact be the Upper radiator Cover, it is the part you see covering the flat space over the radiator when you open the
hood. This is a very long and wide part, that cover the complete front section of the engine compartment.
This part will be Yellow/Carbon Fiber. Next moving towards
the engine will be the Coolant Fill Tank, this will be Yellow/Carbon Fiber
as well. It sit just aft of the upper cover and before the engine. Off to the right,
and down will be the new Fuse Box Lid, it two will be Yellow/Carbon Fiber…and
I think I have a ideal for the lid in terms of a ornament. Next moving on back will be the Engine
Coil Covers…we stayed with the factory Blue Boss 302 Covers, but again they will be painted Yellow/Carbon Fiber. Above them will be a new Strut bar. Again we stayed
with the original Boss 302 Strut bar, but this one will be coated in Yellow/Carbon Fiber.
This isn't a lot of parts, but the idea was to liven up the engine compartment with a little color, and pizzazz.
The School Bus Yellow will liven up the parts and the Carbon Fiber will give them a different look and feel over just
painted.
